New grad opportunities at Google

In September you read about Google’s technical internship opportunities for summer 2012. Today we’d like to talk a bit about the technical full-time opportunities available for students who are preparing to graduate (or have graduated) during the 2011-2012 academic year. All of these positions are listed on our student jobs site broken down by region, but today here we’re hoping to provide a more in-depth look at a few of the roles for which we’re recruiting in our North America offices:
Software Engineer

Software Engineer
- Develop massively scalable, distributed software systems and also collaborate on multitudes of smaller projects that have universal appeal - which requires research, awareness, interactivity, and asking questions.
- There are 3 different roles within the Software Engineering job family:
- Software Engineer: product and systems development
- Software Engineer in Test: uses software design, analysis, and programming skills to create innovative automated test systems
- Site Reliability Engineer: creates robust and scalable software that scale to tens of millions of users.
- Software Engineer: product and systems development
- Works on guiding products from conception to design through launch, defining product vision and strategy, understanding and analyzing user needs, and researching the competitive market.

- Works on providing direct support for Linux, Mac and Microsoft desktops/laptops and user access to corporate network and applications. ITRs also provides direct support for services such as office phones, video conferencing, and remote access. They’re also responsible for troubleshooting of Google’s corporate resources and applications and supporting Google’s office relocations and expansions.

- Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of how users experience online search.
- Work with designers, product managers, engineers, and research managers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
