Glam Media announces new OpenSocial developer platform
July 22nd, 2008 | Published in Google OpenSocial
Today Glam Media is happy to announce the upcoming Glam Application Platform with support for OpenSocial. Glam Media is a network of 600+ high-end content publishers, with over 77 million monthly visitors globally. The Glam Platform will serve third-party applications to Glam's network of publishers. Publishers and website owners will then be able to choose from a rich list of applications and embed them in their blogs and websites.
Glam's OpenSocial implementation, based on Apache Shindig, is interesting because Glam is enabling applications to run on any website, not just Glam's. Glam is planning to contribute the container extension back to the OpenSocial community so other platforms can do the same.
As of today's announcement, Glam is inviting application developers to join the private beta. Beta program participants will have a head start building engaging applications for the Glam Network's users.
