Gmail adds IMAP support

IMAP access is now available to Gmail users at no additional cost, so people can connect client applications like Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail, and mobile devices like the iPhone to their Gmail accounts. Actions taken while connected by IMAP will be reflected next time the user signs in to the Gmail web interface, or connects to their account from a different IMAP application.
Editions impacted:
Standard, Premier, Education and Partner Editions
Languages impacted:
US English
How to access what's new:
Sign in to Gmail, click 'Settings', and choose the 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' tab. Select the option to enable IMAP, and follow the instructions to configure the device or application you'll use to access Gmail.
