As you’ve probably noticed, we’re just changing things up here on the Product Ideas team, and going for a new approach. Some of our series are closing down temporarily, and we’re going to focus on short-term PI series to collect your feedback for Google products.

This doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to be a part of a Product Ideas series for iGoogle, Mobile, or any of the other products we’ve featured. Instead, we’ll do a PI series for a product when that team is best able to act and respond to your ideas.

Simply put, we’ve always felt that the whole Product Ideas experience should be exciting and fun. It’s a chance for Product Managers and Product Support Teams to learn more about users. More important, it’s a chance for users to become advocates for what’s important in the products that they use. Moving to this new approach means that the PI team can focus more fun and better results into each series that we do. And it gives us time to make cool videos.

Collecting your feedback for Google Places

The Local Business Center has been renamed to Google Places to better connect people who use Place pages with the tools that enable business owners to manage their presence on Google. With this launch, we want to collect your feedback and feature request for Google Places.

The team has launched a Product Ideas page to collect what you have to say. For the next month, you can submit your ideas and vote on the Google Places ideas that are most important to you. The more feedback we get the better, so please take a moment to check it out here.

Remember, the series is only open for a month. So head over and submit your feedback, and keep checking in to see what others have to say.

Even more Buzz news

Our first round Product Ideas for Google Buzz was a great success. We received a lot of feedback, and the team has already made improvements on collapsing comments and better inbox controls. More improvements are in the works, and we'd like to know more.

Since Buzz is changing, you may have seen that we've opened up a new topic in the Product Ideas for Buzz series that will be open for the entire month of April. We'll still be paying attention to the ideas you submitted in March, but will also make room for new ideas for April as well.

Head on over to Product Ideas for Buzz to submit your ideas and vote on the ideas of others, and don't forget to follow the Google Buzz Team on Buzz for updates on your ideas.

The Google Buzz team has been working hard to listen to your feedback from the Product Ideas for Google Buzz page and other sources on the web. One of the largest pieces of feedback we've received is that buzz in your inbox can get noisy. The Gmail and Buzz teams feel this too, and they've implemented new features based on your feedback to better help you control this-- settings to control what buzz goes to your inbox, explanations on why posts get sent to your inbox, and an easy-to-find "mute" button for buzz.

Submit your feedback for YouTube Partners Program

Recently we debuted an Ideas Page for YouTube where users from around the globe could contribute with ideas and feedback to make YouTube better. It was a success, receiving almost 3,000 ideas and more than 300,000 votes. We even launched a few features that directly addressed some of the requests -- namely, an HTML5 Beta (there were many HTML5 advocates who participated) and a sneak peek of our new cleaner video page (some desired a "less cluttered" YouTube).

Today we are creating a similar Product Ideas Page specific to our YouTube Partners, where you can post ideas about how we can improve the site and your experience as partners, and see what other people are suggesting, too. If you like their suggestion, vote for it!
Whether it's an idea for a brand new feature, a small tweak that would simplify your work flow or just feedback about our Partner Program, we'd love to hear it. While we aren't able to guarantee that all ideas will be implemented, we can promise that we'll take the top ideas (as voted by you) and bring them to the YouTube Partner Team for review.
This series will be closed to new submissions and votes on April 12th, so be sure to submit your ideas soon. We look forward to hearing from you!

Tell us your feedback for Buzz, share your ideas on Buzz

We recently launched Google Buzz, and it's clear that many of our users are interested in sharing feedback for the product. We're excited to hear your feedback and feature requests, so today we launched Product Ideas for Google Buzz. There, you can share your own ideas to make Buzz better, and vote on the ideas of other users that you find most important.

Additionally, blog commenter Jordan asked about finding ways to share links to the ideas he submitted on Product Ideas. Currently, you can click on your user alias inside an idea to view all the ideas you've submitted for a series. The URL at the top of this page will direct anyone else to all of your ideas, so you can easily share all of them with others. If you want to let people know what you think about Buzz, you can even post the link there too.

Product Ideas for Google Buzz will be be up until March 31st at 11:59PM EST, so make sure to submit your feedback and votes before then. We'll be keeping an eye on the series and hopping in to answer some of the best ideas that we see. Whether it's an idea for a brand new feature or just a small tweak that would simplify your work flow, we'd like to hear it. Product Ideas 2.0 has launched – new features, more products

The Product Ideas team has been very busy lately, and you've probably noticed some changes on the Product Ideas page in the past week that we're very excited to tell you about. Since we launched Product Ideas, we've received a lot of feedback about Google mobile products, Blogger, and Webmaster Tools, and we've identified a lot of ways to better gather your ideas. Now, with our new series for iGoogle, Google Docs, Google Reader, Google Sketchup, Google Ad Planner, and Google Custom Search, we're excited to officially unveil version 2 of Product Ideas.

In this new version, we've added several features to keep the ideas list fresh, and to help you better categorize, sort, and filter to find the most relevant ideas for you to vote on. At the top of every idea list, you'll see four ways to sort:

* Top Voted - sort ideas in a topic by the total number of positive votes

* What's Hot - sort by the most popular ideas right now

* What's New - see the most recently submitted ideas

* Ideas in Action - will show you the ideas that we've reviewed and responded to, so you can see how your feedback has helped us make Google products better

In addition, you can now submit an idea into multiple topics. For instance, if you have a great Google Spreadsheets feature request that's relevant to educational use, you can now choose both "Feature Request" and "Education" in the "Pick a Topic" selection box.

The best part is, we're only getting started. Now it's time for you to share your thoughts and tell us what ideas matter most.

The Webmaster Central team does our best to support the webmaster community via Google's Webmaster Tools product, our Help Center, the Webmaster Central blog, our YouTube videos, our forum, and a fellow named Matt Cutts.

However, we know users want to share their ideas, and we've seen the impact user feedback has had on Google Mobile and Blogger, so the Webmaster Central team set out to open up Product Ideas. Given the recent launch of our new user interface, this is a great time to ask for feedback and further new ideas.

If you've got ideas and suggestions for Webmaster Central - features you want, things we can do better - tell us! From now until Friday, July 24, 2009, Product Ideas for Webmaster Central will be open for feedback. Every suggestion you add will be seen not only by the Webmaster Central team, but by other users and webmasters. We'll review every submission, and we'll update you regularly with our progress and feedback.

Labeling in Gmail for Android, iPhone browsers

You've always been able to view your labels in Gmail for mobile, but you asked for the ability to apply and remove labels on messages. We listened. Last month we added more advanced support for labeling in Gmail for mobile when accessed in the browser on an iPhone or Android-powered device.

Product Ideas – Now for Blogger!

Product Ideas for Google Mobile has shown us that users like you have great feedback and enjoy sharing it with the world. As you have seen from previous blog posts, you've shown us that you care about location sharing through Google, access to documents on your phone, and more. We've listened to these ideas, and now we're excited to open this up for another Google product, Blogger.

From now until Friday, May 14th, Product Ideas for Blogger will be up for users to share their great ideas, issues, feature requests, and even their favorite blogs of note. Just like other Product Ideas series, you'll be able to submit your own idea and then vote on the ideas of others. The Product Ideas Team will be here from time to time to check in, and we'll be updating you once the series is done.

Edit, delete and respond to events using Google Calendar for mobile

We recently made it easier to manage events with Google Calendar for mobile browsers, which should be great news to all those who voted for the No. 1 idea on Google Product Ideas. You can now edit, delete, and respond to events using Google Calendar for mobile browsers. These features are currently only available in the English interface on Android and iPhone devices.

We're happy to see such enthusiastic voting and even happier to see one of the most popular ideas already live!

Product Ideas for Google Sync and Google Docs Become Reality

We'd like to highlight a couple of newly launched features for mobile products that correlate to ideas you've posted on Product Ideas. First, Google Sync has been extended to multiple device platforms, which means that more people can enable automatic synchronization of contacts or calendar over the air. The second feature, ListView for Google Spreadsheets, marks the first time you'll be able to make edits in Google Docs from your phone. Have fun trying out these new features on your phone, and don't forget to come back here if you have great ideas for future iterations of these - or any other - mobile products!

Google Spreadsheets' new ListView feature will enable you to perform basic spreadsheet edits from supported devices [Android, iPhone, Nokia S60]. You'll automatically go to ListView when you visit any spreadsheets via your mobile Docs list (http://docs.google.com/m). Recently Implemented Ideas for Google Mobile: Latitude and Tasks

When we launched Product Ideas, we asked you to submit your best ideas for Google Mobile. Lana from New York, NY, said she wanted to "see my friends on maps on my phone," and over 1,200 of you agreed. We've had many other great ideas come from mobile enthusiasts across the world.

Your feedback is important as we work on new products and features, and with almost 3,000 ideas posted, we thought it about time to update you on some of the latest Google projects so that you can keep dreaming up and voting on new ideas that we haven't already implemented!

This week, we're happy to introduce two great new features, each for a different mobile product. Read on to find out more about sharing your location via Google Maps or keeping track of your to-do list with Gmail Tasks.

Product: Google Maps for mobile
New Feature: Latitude

Latitude is a new social feature that helps you locate your friends using a mobile device. By opting in to Latitude and having your friends share their location with you, you can see their whereabouts on Maps and contact them via SMS, Gmail, or Google Talk. You can even keep them updated by changing your status message. Check it out by going to http://www.google.com/latitude

Tasks lets you manage your to-do list while you're on the go. You can create lists of things you need to get done and check off tasks as they're completed.
If you have a supported device, just go to http://gmail.com/tasks in your phone's web browser to access Tasks. And mark that done.

Product Ideas for Google Mobile went live on 12/12. So far we've seen a lot of creative, interesting ideas being posted about how to make Google Mobile products better and a lot of voting going on. Keep it coming!

We'd like to highlight one idea which was posted from São Paulo: "A 'Google Product Ideas' for all google services." While we're kicking off this initiative with Google Mobile, we hope to extend Product Ideas to more Google products in the coming year. Given this is the first time we've embarked on such a mission to make your voices heard, we'll be closely monitoring Product Ideas and your feedback.

On that note, we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. See you in 2009, and until then - keep the ideas coming!

"I have an awesome idea for a Google mobile product! Now if only I could show Google how cool this is..."?

At Google, we know we've got some really great users with some really great ideas, and we're excited to open up a new project called Product Ideas, a platform through which we're taking a new approach to feedback for Google mobile products. Whether it's a feature request, a crazy idea, a rave or a rant, we want to hear it. Even more, we want other users to hear it, to see what others are buzzing about, and to be able to vote on all these ideas.

You can tell us what you think is a great idea for our products, what you think we could improve on, or what you really love about Google mobile products. The Product Ideas team will be here to check in from time to time and see what's cooking. We'll make sure to keep you updated on what we see being voted to the top, or when a new feature or fix launches based on the feedback you provided.
