Reporting Beta for Publishers

We recently launched improved reporting for publishers. Top level features and enhancements include:

Visual representation of performance through graphs and customizable axes
Enhanced filtering options
Improved speed
Export options now include .csv and .txt formats

To help you learn more about the reports you can run and how to customize the graphs, we’ve created an overview video to walk you through our updated reporting features:

Additional information:

Use the date picker on the right side of the page to select pre-set date ranges (i.e. last 7 days, month to date, last full month) or choose your own custom date range.
Group data into desired time frame (day, week, month, etc.) with the drop down in the report results.
Select Switch to Classic Version to view reporting on our legacy platform.

Note: Saved reports are only available on the Classic Version at this time.

We’ve also improved our Publisher homepage by providing more options for customizing the information you see when you sign in to your account. This includes:

Performance Summary: Displays the aggregate performance of all advertisers you are working with.
Network Rank: Includes your 7 day and 3 month EPC (effective cost per click) metric as well as network rank.
Top Advertisers: Top 10 advertisers in your program ranked by earnings (commissions).

Product Subscriptions Dashboard for Publishers

The newly launched Product Subscriptions Dashboard provides a robust and simple interface that publishers with real-time access to product feed delivery. To view the status of the feeds you currently subscribe to, login to your Google Affiliate Network account and navigate to Subscriptions>Product Subscriptions.

From this page, you can sort by advertiser name, feed status, last successful delivery, and the number of products included. This information is also available for export as CSV or TXT.

Note: To change your settings or add new advertisers, click the "Subscriptions Settings" link.

Browse Advertisers for Publishers

The Browse Advertisers Beta tab now provides search functionality and filtering options so that Publishers can easily find Advertisers that match their desired program traits. The filter options are as follows:

Relationship status*
Advertiser categories
7-day EPC
3-month EPC
Payout rank

*To search for Advertisers where you have no relationship (declined, deactivated, pending or approved), choose the “Available” option.

Here’s how to get started with Browse Advertisers:

Log in to your Google Affiliate Network Publisher Account
Navigate to the Advertisers - Beta tab
You’ll see all of your approved Advertisers
Navigate to the left side for filter options
You can search for a specific Advertiser or filter on desired program attributes

Publishers can still navigate to the legacy version by clicking on "switch to classic version".

Browse Links Beta for Advertisers

We have recently improved the Links tab for our advertisers. Enhancements include improved filtering by status, type, ad size, promotion type and start and end dates. We’ve also added a search feature that allows advertisers to find a particular link template by entering the link name or merchandising text.

To get to the new version, click on the Links - Beta tab. In order to view the Classic Version, you will need to select "Switch to the classic version" (screenshot below).

Note: You can perform an export of links from either interface, but you are only able to upload from the Classic Version at this time. Any link changes you make on the Classic Version will take up to an hour to appear on the Links - Beta tab.

New Product API for Google Affiliate Network Publishers

We are pleased to announce that Google Affiliate Network publishers can now take advantage of a new Google product API -- a simple yet powerful programmatic interface -- to make it easier to access and integrate product data from Google Affiliate Network advertisers.

The Google Search API for Shopping makes it easy for Google Affiliate Network publishers to build innovative applications using advertiser product data. The API simplifies access to product data and is optimized to deliver the most relevant product results.

To get started with the Google Search API for Shopping, visit the Google APIs console, and enter your Google Affiliate Network publisher id.

Opportunity Center for Publishers (Beta)

We’ve just released a new feature that automates the process of finding new advertiser programs. The Publisher Opportunities Center generates a list of recommended advertisers that have the best potential to generate conversions from your website traffic. Recommendations are based on internal data including publisher-advertiser category matches and the advertiser’s performance with your peers.

All Google Affiliate Network publishers can visit the new Opportunities beta tab after signing in to Google Affiliate Network. If we have adequate information on your website, the list of recommendations will be available immediately. From this screen you can view information about the recommended advertisers such as program-wide 3 month and 7 day Earnings Per 100 Clicks (EPC), a standard logo banner, primary category, links to the commission information and program terms, as well as a simple click to join button. You can also export this list as a CSV or TXT file. Note: You’ll also see a link to ‘Dismiss’ a recommendation if you’re not interested in a particular advertiser. Once you ‘Dismiss’ the advertiser listing, it is permanently removed from the Opportunities tab.

If you don’t see any recommendations it means we need more information about your website. You will be prompted to fill out a short form. Recommendations will be quickly generated based on your response.

Results will be updated daily, so publishers are encouraged to check their recommendations on a regular basis.

An Efficient Way to Promote the Season’s Hottest Products

Google’s Search Trend data provides a wealth of information on what consumers are searching for. The ThinkHoliday site highlights trends in retail and insight into the types of product searches that consumers are conducting this holiday season.

Publishers can leverage search trend data or content on their website that’s related to specific products and find products available through Google Affiliate Network advertisers. Our newly enhanced Product Search feature enables publishers to find products and build links to specific products across all approved advertiser relationships. Starting today, users will enjoy an even faster experience, with more relevant results for their product search. We strongly encourage publishers to use this feature to build product specific links for placement on their sites and start promoting this season’s most popular gifts.

How it works:

The Find Products feature allows publishers to access advertisers’ product feeds within the Google Affiliate Network interface. Publishers can view product price, image, image size, category and description in addition to tracking and creative urls.

To search for a product, sign in and go to the Products tab. Enter the name of a product you want to promote on your website and click ‘go.’ Your product search results will appear ranked by relevancy to the keywords entered.

Please note that providing specific criteria generates better results. You can search by criteria such as keywords, brand, advertiser name, product name, UPC, ISBN, MPN and/or SKU. To exclude products place a minus (-) in front of any of your criteria. For example, "digital camera -accessories".

Ever wonder how specific products perform?
Google Affiliate Network publishers can gain insight into the conversions for specific products from many Google Affiliate Network advertisers via the Product Detail Report. You can navigate to the Product Detail Report via the navigation bar on the left side of your screen. (Sign in, visit the Reports Tab >> Product-Related >>Products Detail)

This holiday season presents an opportunity to focus on the specific products that your visitors are looking for. By leveraging Google’s search trend data, the enhanced Find Products feature within your Google Affiliate Network account and product level reporting, you can optimize your affiliate ads for the best performing products.

Problems updating your login to a Google Account?

If you attempted to update your Google Affiliate Network account login to a Google Account login sometime between September 2nd and 10th, 2009, there may have been an error in processing your update. As a result, you may have been unable to log in to your Google Affiliate Network account using either login. This issue has been resolved, and you should now be able to log in using your original credentials.

Once you have signed in to Google Affiliate Network, you should see the yellow reminder message offering you the option to update your login to a Google Account. Please either update to an existing Google Account or create a new Google Account to use as your Google Affiliate Network login.

Note: If you created a new Google Account between September 2nd and 10th, 2009 (as part of your original attempt to update your Google Affiliate Network login), that account was created successfully and you should choose the option to provide the information for an existing Google Account.
If you have since logged in and completed the update process successfully, you do not need to take any additional steps regarding your log in credentials.

Announcing Google Affiliate Network payments through Google AdSense

Google Affiliate Network publisher payments will now be made through AdSense to offer publishers a wider range of payment options. Publishers can also manage their payment information in new ways and enjoy consolidated payments from Google if they use other Google products.

Starting on August 13, 2009, the primary user of your Google Affiliate Network publisher account will see an account notification asking them to create an AdSense account or link to an existing account. Accounts linked before midnight (Eastern Standard Time) on September 21st, 2009 will receive payments through AdSense for July and August 2009 earnings (depending on relevant advertiser payment terms). Publishers should create or link an AdSense account as soon as possible to avoid delays in Google Affiliate Network payments.

Earnings prior to July 2009 will be made through the existing Google Affiliate Network payment system.

Update Your Google Affiliate Network Sign-in to a Google Account

You can now update your Google Affiliate Network sign-in information to a Google Account. This will let you access all your Affiliate Network account and Google products with a single sign-in. After you update to a Google Account, you’ll be able to:

Use the same sign-in for Google Affiliate Network and other Google products, including AdWords, AdSense, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Personalized Search, and much more.
Switch among Google Affiliate Network and other Google applications without having to sign in again.

The following image provides an overview of the process to update to a Google Account.

Please note: We cannot update the Google Affiliate Network sign-in pages until all users have updated. Therefore, we recommend that you bookmark the Google Account sign-in page for Google Affiliate Network.

Users who have updated to Google Accounts have the option to bookmark their new sign in page or select the link marked Already Updated? Sign in with my Google Account from the legacy sign in page. In addition, if you are already logged in to your Google Account (via another product) and navigate to either of these pages, you will be brought to your Affiliate Network dashboard (no need to enter login information again).

Users that choose to not update to a Google Account at this time can continue to log in with their existing credentials from the legacy sign in page.
