Living on the west coast of the US, I know it is hard (especially in winter) for some of our customers to make their way out to the east coast for training. I often make the 4 hour trip out east to visit my family. So we are really excited to announce our newest Certified Training Partner for Search, Innovent Solutions. Innovent will be teaching Google Search Appliance courses on a regular basis, starting May 14-16th in Irvine, CA. If you are registered, I look forward to meeting you at this course, as I am planning on being there. Don't worry if you cannot attend this class, they will have other sessions in the future.

Capgemini: Bringing Google Apps to Large Enterprises

If you haven't yet caught today's news, global services provider Capgemini just announced their partnership with us and their focus on Google Apps for large enterprises. The crux of their announcement is that they'll be integrating Google Apps into their world-class managed desktop services, bringing email and collaboration tools to employees of large enterprises who do not currently have the right tools (or any tools, in some cases).

We're very excited about this, since it means many of our larger customers will have access to the high-quality services and support that Capgemini provides to its clients. Thousands of large, medium, and small organization are adopting Google Apps daily, and this partnership now gives larger enterprises--who often have very specialized requirements--a new choice of a trusted advisor to help them make the transition.

Google Developer Day extends into the enterprise

Today we announced and opened up registration for this year's Google Developer Day, which will be held in 10 locations around the world on May 31st. For those of you developing products and services using our enterprise product APIs this is a chance for you to learn more and interact with the teams. It also represents a great opportunity for you to go more in depth on Google's other developer products including Google Web Toolkits, Google Gadgets, and the AJAX Search and Google Checkout APIs.

But why would you want to? Well we continue to see a trend where enterprises are embracing new technologies and systems that have roots in consumer-based applications. We'd certainly like to think that our enterprise products, which are rooted in our own consumer offerings, are playing a healthy role in this phenomenon. Its also very intentional that our consumer and enterprise development platforms are one and the same. Now Google Developer Day represents a great chance for the enterprise developer to stay ahead of the curve by examining the many ways they could creatively leverage Google's wide range of developer products within enterprise environments. If you missed the debut of the Enterprise Solutions Gallery, the Google Apps section was launched a few weeks back with the arrival of Google Apps Premier Edition. Enterprise Search With A Cherry on Top

Having a content management system is helpful for managing the content within your enterprise, and users rightly have high expectations of the quality of the results of these systems. This in turn is driving up the importance of search when specifying which system to choose. So having a great CMS that wins awards for usability and better meets these needs of the user has to be the icing on the cake.

And if you are using the award winning Morello system from Mediasurface now powered by the Google Search Appliance then your cake has a cherry on it too, albeit a yellow rack mounted one.

In other words, we're pleased to announce that Mediasurface has launched a connector to the Google Search Appliance for its Morello content management system. Users of both products can now access Morello content (and more) via the familiar Google search experience that they have become accustomed to, whilst ensuring that the security and integrity of the content management setup in Morello is respected.

Step up to the Blackboard

Yesterday at Educause in Dallas we announced that Blackboard--a major provider of enterprise software to educational institutions--has joined the Google Enterprise Professional program. The combination of Blackboard's education-focused software with Google enterprise search products will help the large number of universities using those products make it easy for their faculty and students to find exactly the information they're looking for.

So far, Blackboard has created several Google OneBox for Enterprise modules for searching course catalogs and other Blackboard sources, as well as completed an integration with Google Scholar. We're looking forward to seeing what other interesting things they do with the Google Search Appliance, Google Mini, and Google Apps for Education.

More Free Stuff

Inxight, a Google Enterprise Professional partner, has once again released a free complement to Google enterprise search technology. This time it's the Inxight Search Extender for Google Desktop, which combines Inxight's entity extraction and natural-language processing with Google Desktop's search capability. Search results from Google Desktop are automatically clustered on-the-fly, enabling users to filter their results sets by the people, companies, places, concepts and other information contained within them.

Oh yeah--what was Inxight's earlier free offering? A java API wrapper for the Google Search Appliance and the Google Mini, available at http://code.google.com/enterprise/opensource/. While you're there, check out other offerings from developers, or click on "API Documentation" to see some different ways to integrate with Google enterprise search products.

GEP Turns 100 (in a manner of speaking)

Last week we added our 100th Google Enterprise Professional partner worldwide. And while the milestone is absolutely a reason to celebrate, it's not all about quantity--the breadth and expertise of our partners is what really makes this program (and our customers) successful.

Partnering Down Under

The Google Enterprise Professional program is now on four continents! In addition to partners in North America, Europe, and Japan, we now proudly welcome Australia to our enterprise partner family.

More specifically, web services company Panalysis has signed on to help our customers in Australia and New Zealand get even more out of their Google Search Appliance and Google Mini deployments. Panalysis has extensive experience with web analytics (including Google Analytics, of course!), optimization, websites, and intranets. Also, with a focus on user experience, they're a great fit for Google. We're excited to have them on board and excited to be breaking new ground down under!

Doing it iWay: Google OneBox for Enterprise

Ever since we launched Google OneBox for Enterprise as a new feature of the Google Search Appliance, interested users have been asking us for ways to access even more dynamic enterprise content. Now, Information Builders, one of our longest-standing enterprise partners, has answered the call by putting together a pair of OneBox modules to add to our growing collection.

IBI's WebFOCUS module interacts with their business intelligence system, allowing users to access WebFOCUS business intelligence reports, database records and real-time messages directly from their Google Search Appliance UI.

IBI's second module taps into their iWay Universal Adapter Suite. With a little customized setup for specific applications, iWay's module will allow users to access content from any application, database, content management system, custom application system or legacy transaction system that iWay's adapter suite can access. All from the Google Search Appliance.

Taking Persistent Notes

A lot of people use Lotus Notes. And now users can access and search more of their Notes content directly from the Google Search Appliance. Persistent Systems, a recently announced Google Enterprise Professional partner, has just released their new IBM Lotus Notes Connector. This connector, when combined with the Google Search Appliance, allows users to search pretty much all of their Lotus Notes content.

The new connector provides the ability to browse through a configured Lotus Notes content hierarchy of servers, databases and documents. This enhances the reading of structured and unstructured documents in Lotus Notes, plus passes them to the Google Search Appliance for indexing purposes. The connector also includes the ability to fetch attachments, detect changes, and handle authenticated search, which fits well with our paradigm of secure, efficient search.

Inxight on Extending Search
